Slowly going through my old technical notebook page, found above, and updating the files where I can. Since the last time I accessed or dealt with those files we're back in uh.. 2005-6! So. Yes! Doing my best to find updated versions when possible! Also, you'll notice the name of the site has changed a little. A Retrocade Romp! Sounds better in my head. I Also got rid of the wanted section, combined the Misc and Contact section and added new sections with more... actual content that may be updated more often. I may move over to a new URL. I'll redirect if that happens.

A friend sent me a modded PS2 Slim and a WHOLE boatload of PS2 and PSX games- many imports, and some burned games and some official copies. This is a large mess to sort through so It'll be a bit for me to add it all to the collection. :laughing: Also, my Model Lynx 2 came back from being recapped. The person who did it, tpugmire on AtariAge, did a lovely job. The screen is nice and bright, and he caught other issues that he offered to fix. It works really great now! He also kept in communication well. If he offers to fix your console, he does a good job. I recommend, 5/5 stars.

I now own a Switch Lite! This is the first time in a long while I've owned a console while it was still relevant and being actively developed for. I did have a 3DS for about eight months before Nintendo more or less stopped supporting it, so I don't actually count it that much. That being said, I'm looking forward to many enjoyable gaming hours on it!

My Poor Model 2 Lynx is sick with a weak screen, evident of most capacitor issues and has been sent off to get recapped by tpugmire on Atari Age! Hopefully this will fix the issue!

So I got the right GameBit screwdriver to open the Toploader NES I got to clean it inside, and as I suspected, It'd been a roach nest one time. No live activity, but dead bugs and dried bug 'dirt' :angry:. Cleaned it out, gave the exterior another clean and bam, much better. And sounds less like a cockroach maraca when you shake it. :tongue: Also no April Fools jokes. Those are lame.

Think it's time to replace the Wanted List with something else. A lot of what I want nowadays are rare things or pipe dreams, such as a Neo-Geo AES or Vextrex, etc. Since I have most of the things you'd consider 'pedestrian' I wanted. Maybe just make it the 'Blog' section. Or maybe a reviews section. Though I think I wanna keep the reviews for the Youtube channel I'm working on, too. Hrm. I'll think of something!

 Recently, I went through the containers I keep my collection accessible in and did a bit of clean up. Basically, if I hadn't used it in a few good months I put it into a big box. If I use it regularly or intend to, I put back into my accessible containers-- these 'three part' plastic drawer sets I'd gotten at Wal-Mart . I put the box in the closet, so I could still access it if I needed to, and cleared out some space in my accessible boxes. Basically. I feel better about my collection and freed up a little more space for at least another console or two if I wanted. Basically, this article is more or less about 'hey, do some collection cleaning'. Whether that's storing some rarely used games/consoles into a box to make room for more things-- or selling them or trading them for other things you might enjoy more than just take up space. Well. Some people may take a 'I want EVERYTHING' approach to collection. I'm like that sometimes. But it also eventually bloats my collection with some things I do not want, and then I need to do what I did. I'm probably gonna be more careful about what I add to my collection from now on. Room is finite in my area of the house, after all! So yeah, keep your collection clean and neat!

 Got myself a toploader NES for a good price. Downside? Was dirty as heck. Goodside? Cleaned really easily. Works fine, too. Just waiting for a power supply replacement, the one it came with was like... for a dustbuster vacuum. It worked, but the wattage is too low on it.O Oh. That picture? Just a stock image~ I might aswell make my posts look fancy, right?~ :tongue:

 Let me talk about the Super Famicom I got recently! I have a Super Nintendo, but I'm starting to think I enjoy the Super Famicom more for a few reasons. Why? Well. For the dumbest reason. I just like hiw pudgy it looks. I like how the front face looks. I like that clicky power button and eject button. I like the the clink sound carts make going in. I also enjoy the look of the Super Famicom controllers too, with those multicolored buttons. Albeit. I don't like the much shorter cord. Basically. I'm not gonna lie. ALL my enjoyment comes from how this console looks and feels physically. In the end, it's just the same hardware as the Super Nintendo. I guess there are dumber reasons to enjoy a retro console!

 This is an editorial piece of sorts about Everdrives-- or to use a more generic term 'Flash carts' for game consoles. This is my opinion. It does not necessarily mean it is right or wrong. With that disclaimer out of the way. I will just be using the term Everdrives and EDs to refer to any device meant to play rom or iso files on a console-- that is- 'A flash cart'. Everdrives are valuable tools for the retrogamer. It provides a cost effective way to experience rare games that you might not otherwise get to experience on the real hardware. Or play translated patched roms of Japanese import games on the real hardware. For those who are lucky enough to own such rare games, it gives you a way to play that rare game without taking it out of it's box or risk damaging it by playing a copy of it. It also lets you keep your collection in storage and just choose from a list of games on an SD card or Flash Memory. Of course, there's the downside that people can see these as merely promoting retrogame piracy and I agree with that to a point. Why buy that NES cart of Super Mario Bros 3. at the flea market when you can just put it's rom file you downloaded off the internet for free on your Everdrive N8 and play it then. I believe that EDs are always gonna be this gray area with their upsides and downsides- but I also believe that the upsides outweigh the downsides, and it's why I'm probably still going to buy them for the consoles I own and enjoy.

 Recently, a few months back, I purchased a Space Invaders Arcade1UP cabinet from Walmart.com. I got it on sale for 150$ dollars USD. This seemed to be a good deal given it's normally 299$ USD. So basically fifty percent off. It arrived, in a timely manner- though there was no outer box or wrapping, they just shipped it in the big box it comes in. I prefer there to be some kind of wrapping around items, to hide what it is. This is not a big deal in the end. The Space Invader's cabinet, as of the time of this writing, is a Walmart Exclusive. First off, these come in a kit to assemble. It is a nightmare. There's huge pieces and multiple boxes. You'll need about two hours time for your first time. I imagine I could build another one of these in a shorter amount of time, now that I know what to expect. I was sweating by the time I was done. I did not enjoy putting this cabinet together. I imagine some people might enjoy putting this together, but I did not. There are two games on this unit that are both Space Invaders. The original black and white, and the colored version. They play exactly as Space Invaders should. The joystick feels good, as do the buttons. The look and feel and game play feels authentic. The problem I have, is the volume. Which only has three levels-- 'Off/Mute, Loud and VERY Loud'. There's no way to put the sound down on softer. This really needed a more adjustable volume control. As a whole, the Arcade1UP upright cabinet line are scaled down arcade cabinets. You will need a stool or chair to be comfortable to play at it, unless you make it higher via putting it on a raised solid surface or buy the optional Arcade1UP riser-- which retails for an additional 35$ to 40$ USD. Overall, the only thing I regret about this purchase is the assembling time and process. I really don't want to buy another unit, regardless about how much I want that Galaga unit- unless it's assembled for me, and the volume settings. It's otherwise, nice to have an 'arcade machine' in my own home of a classic game I like mindlessly playing. I rate this 9 out of 10 Invaders from Space. The unit itself is solid and great. But if you can find someone else to assemble it for you, do that. Do it.

I bought myself a Super Famicom. I've kind of always liked the design of the Super Famicom over the SNES in America. I have no idea why, I just do. I got some China-Knockoff Everdrive clone to run some games off it! I have thoughts on Everdrives, but I'll save them for a different post soon.
